A while ago I wrote an opinion stating that Tim Kelly is a "nice enough guy" although not the best choice for mayor.
Today I see where he joined in on Facebook in celebration of the death of Rush Limbaugh. In my mind, and I hope in those of thousands of other Chattanoogans, his post proves me wrong. He is not a nice guy. And he's just shown us who he really is - an extreme liberal. Of course, his record with left-wing causes already established that fact.
Who among us thinks it's appropriate to celebrate the suffering or death of another person? I can't believe anyone of good conscience - liberal or conservative - can feel that way. Little really and truly offends me, but with this insensitivity, Kelly did.
Kelly's half-hearted retraction and apology are not enough. He has revealed himself.
Vote for Kim White, a pragmatist who will get Chattanooga moving again after the last disastrous 16 years of liberal Chattanooga mayors.

Cheering the death of someone who died from a slow, painful death is disgusting and displays horrible judgement. Furthermore its extremely hypocritical for someone who claims to want to “bring the city together”.
Tim Kelly has lost my vote and his yard sign is in the trash.

"Some folks" need to stop the self-righteous moral act. Since they're still hanging onto that drunken 'conservative' virtuous/moral claim vs liberals "who 'ain't' virtuous 'n have no morals whatsoever." Some need to be reminded of the more than decades of violently spewing insults, many brutal and hideous, over the decades.
Where Tim Kelley may have caved in the moment of a Freudian slip, over the decades a lack of a moral compass became the new 'norm' for quite a number of so-called "self-righteous" conservatives, local ones even.
I haven't made up my mind who to vote for mayor in the upcoming election (right vs left never influenced my vote), but maybe, just maybe........... Tim Kelly is the right person for the job after all. Especially so, since he's been getting attacked from some on the right, and this is not the first attack I've come across.
What do local 'conservatives' really fear in such a person becoming mayor? That's the real question to consider.
Tim Kelly is a very, very nice person.

So, some very disturbing headlines and actions this morning from those that want to lead our great city. One celebrating the death of a fellow human being that suffered and died of cancer and another blatantly lying in front of the beer board and claiming trumped up charges. Tim Kelly’s Facebook post really hits home after watching my mom succumb to cancer way too early in life in what was one of the most devesting things I ever had to watch as I sat with her until her very last breath on New Years Eve of 2013. Anyone who has ever experienced watching a loved one suffer the devastation of cancer and what it does to the body would not wish it on their worst enemy, much less celebrate it. This is heartless at best and really has me questioning his morals as a whole but I will not judge another human being’s entire character based on a moment of very poor indecision. Whether or not Mr. Kelly is truly sorry or just trying some form of damage control is something only he knows and will have to live with regardless.
I then read another article where another mayoral candidate flat out lied to the beer board as follows, “Dr. Woods also claimed no alcohol was at the party. “I couldn’t see the beer and why didn’t the police have the body cams on?" asked Dr. Woods, “It’s all trumped up,” she said, a statement that she backed out of after the body cam videos showed beer cans everywhere, including the lobby where she was recorded.” So basically she accused the CPD of lying and they were out to get her with trumped up charges and when caught red handed she retracted her statement. I think at a minimum an apology is in order to the CPD for false accusations and thank God for body cameras as those are some pretty serious allegations. This is not someone I would be able to trust with control of our city if this is any indication of what lies ahead in unifying our community.
I guess the bottom line is my mayoral pool is getting narrower by the day and some candidates are making it very easy based on the their latest actions.

There is a relationship, seemingly, that the attitudes of the GOP are those of Trump, Limbaugh and quite possibly many others. That attitude expressed often by Limbaugh during his radio show was contempt for those different then he. It is the same words of contempt, lack of respect and outright dismissal of a vast number of people, black, white, brown, yellow, that do not fit in the Republican party and further are not welcome.
These many words spoken by Trump, Limbaugh and Hannity show only the smallness of the characters of these people . So popular they are also suggests that the country we live is a bastion of hate, contempt and disrespect for those that are different.
Tim Kelly was right about Limbaugh. Remember Trump imitating with contempt a person that was handicapped?

I have known Tim Kelly for pretty much my entire life. Like most of us - he made a mistake. Knowing Tim Kelly as I believe I do - I would bet my life he was not celebrating Rush Limbaugh's death. He had a moment of poor judgment.
Social-media being what it is - the masses saw it. Don't let one social media post be the determining factor for something as important as our next mayor.
Tim is as nice and caring a person as anyone I have ever met. He is a great guy and Tim Kelly will make a great mayor.
I don't carry an ounce of weight in Chattanooga - nobody is going to listen to me. So - if you are wondering about Tim Kelly - talk to him yourself. Tell him what's on your mind and ask him how he feels. I am 100 percent certain you will like what you hear.

There are not many people that haven’t been touched by cancer. Whether it is a family member, a friend, an acquaintance or even oneself. If you have ever seen or experienced cancer you know how painful, debilitating and heartbreaking it is for anyone to go through. I know too well the pain of having a mother, a wife and many friends who have bravely fought the battle and have lost. This is a diagnosis everyone is frightened to hear and imagines the worst when heard. I have never known anyone to joke or make light of the diagnosis much less the death from cancer.
I was taken aback when I first received a text telling me of Tim Kelly’s Facebook post. At first I thought political antics until I confirmed it through various sources. My reaction to Tim Kelly is how out of touch he must be, how immature, insensitive and self-indulgent.
Anyone who jokes or makes light from someone’s death, regardless of cause, says a lot about that person. Tim Kelly has said a lot about himself.

I admit at the beginning of the mayoral race I was a somewhat reluctant Tim Kelly supporter. No longer. The fact that David Sharpe, out resident black apologist Ms. Washington and now our severely TDS inflicted Robert Brooks are all three singing his praises only confirms that my initial suspicions that he is actually a closet liberal elite were correct.
His half-hearted backtrack of his Rush comments just cements the deal.
Roy, you were wrong about initially supporting Bredesen but you came to your senses. This time your support for Kim White is in our city's best interests.
On March 2, I will cast my vote for Ms. White.

Mr. Brooks, I am guessing that your assessment of Rush Limbaugh is probably based on opinions of others on the left or, carefully edited, out of context snippets versus actually having spent much time listening to Rush's radio show without that filter. Rush was none of things you have accused him of and was a very decent human being who called out liberal nonsense where he found it. Like anyone who points out the hypocrisy and idiocy of the left, he was vilified by for it by folks like yourself. Given the incredible bias of the mainstream media, Rush was a welcome voice and he did it all in a most entertaining manner for over 30 years.
I have never met Tim Kelly, so I can't pass judgement on whether he is a nice guy or not, but he opened a window to his soul with his comment and it revealed a lot about him, not as a political candidate, but as a human being. By agreeing with Mr. Kelly, you have revealed a lot about yourself as well.

I'm sure Rush, wherever he is, is enjoying the comments by the Democrat myrmidons on his passing. Rush's greatest achievement was displaying the abject hypocrisy of the liberal Dems and once again it is on full display.
These same people who criticized Rush for his pointed remarks are the ones who praise Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Maher, Stephen Colbert and the clowns on SNL for their mocking of Republicans. No matter how low they go, their sick humor appeals to the liberal elites on the left and right coast.
However these discussions distract from the most important question, which is who should lead Chattanooga for the next four years. It doesn't matter if Tim Kelly is a nice guy or not, Kim White is the most qualified candidate to be our next mayor.
