Miller-Motte College (MMC) hosted a week-long celebration to commemorate its return to in-person classes following more than a year of remote learning due to COVID-19. The school welcomed students, civic leaders and employer partners, and the entire community back to campus for a series of events tailored for each group including a student party, a breakfast for civic leaders and employers, and a community block party for family members, friends and neighbors.
“We planned these events as a way to celebrate the end of a difficult 16-months without seeing our school community here on campus.
We are thankful for the technology that allowed our students to continue with their programs remotely, however we recognize that for some subjects and classes, in-person or hands-on learning is preferred,” said MMC Executive Director Jay Frank. “We missed our students terribly and are so grateful to hear their voices in our hallways and see them in our classrooms and facilities once again.”
On Tuesday, June 1, students and faculty were invited to “pop-in” for pop-themed treats like popcorn and popsicles, plus activities, giveaways, a selfie station, prize drawings and more. On Wednesday, June 2, Miller-Motte welcomed civic leaders and employer partners to campus for a breakfast networking event to share plans for the year ahead. On the final day of welcome week activities, family members, friends and neighbors were invited to a community block party with activities and treats for children and adults, plus music, a selfie station, prize drawings, gifts, campus tours and more.
