Sue Childs
Sue Childs, 74, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at her residence.
Ms. Childs retired after working as a water treatment plant operator at Duracell for 43 years. She was beloved by family and friends, was known for her kind and generous nature, and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Childs; father, Beaver McNabb; and mother, Minnie Swafford Richardson; brothers Joe McNabb, Thomas McNabb, Ross McNabb, Don McNabb, and Harold McNabb; sisters, Willie Marshall, Martha Jones, and Doris Hawkins
She is survived by her child, James “Jimmy” Childs and wife Tracy of Cleveland; granddaughter, Kellen Childs; great-granddaughter, Maggie Hopkins; siblings, Wanda Roper and husband Marvin of Cleveland, and Carey “Dibble” McNabb and wife Katherine of Benton; many nieces and nephews; two special nieces, Donna Ellis and Connie Hendrix; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joan Sparks and Debbie Garland.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Cheatham officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Blake Ellis, Greg Greene, Koty Perry, Brody Perry, Wally White, and John Hendrix serving as pallbearers. Dennis Ellis and Marvin Centers will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will follow.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. prior to the service.
