Juanita Strickland
Ms. Juanita Strickland was born on December 9, 1925 to Joe R. and Amanda C. Paris in Hooker (Wildwood), Georgia. She worked many years in the food services industry and raised five children. She will always be remembered as a strong, tough, fiery and funny woman. She was the nucleus of her family.
She loved to sing, tend to her garden, watch wrestling and loved nature and animals. She was also an amazing cook. She cooked and cared for many people over her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe R. Paris and mother Amanda C. Paris; brothers, Joseph C. Paris, Robert E. Paris and Claude H. Paris, Melvin Paris; and sisters, Martha Briggs, Lee Ann Mills and Burena Paris Crutcher; and one daughter, Charlene Bryson.
On September 15, 2021, Juanita departed this life on her own terms at Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, Georgia at the precious age of 95 years old. Her mother Amanda Paris left this earth on the exact same date of Sept 15th exactly 84 years prior.
She leaves the following family to cherish her memory Sibling, Emma L Burton of Miami, Florida; Children, Wanda Priestly of Washington, D.C, David Strickland of Chattanooga, TN, Mildred Malveaux (Paul) of Palmetto, GA, DeRon Keith Strickland of Chattanooga, TN and son-in-law Johnny Bryson of Chattanooga, TN; Grandchildren, Karla Bryson of Chattanooga, TN, Claudia Strickland of Washington, D.C, Lenice Nicole Harris (Joel) of Peachtree City, GA, and Kenya Taylor of Douglasville, GA; Great Grandchildren, Maya Taylor, John Taylor, and Andrew Harris.
She is also survived by a host of other relatives (nieces, nephews, cousins), in-laws and friends.
“Mama” as the family called her, leaves a legacy of strength, resilience, and love.
We all will truly miss her!
A visitation for Juanita will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM.
Interment will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens East, 4621 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.
