Bertha Mae Josey Lansden, 72, formerly of Chattanooga, entered her eternal rest and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 3, 2022, in a local hospice facility in Macon, Georgia.

 

Our beloved mother was born on Dec. 30, 1949, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie James Josey, Sr. of Chattanooga. She graduated as a proud Hustlin’ Tiger class of 1968, before matriculating to McKenzie College. She was a dedicated member of Greater Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ.

 

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie James Josey, Sr. and Geneva Watson Josey; husband, Tyrone Lansden; two sisters, Genetta Josey and Denise Thomas; brother, Eugene Josey; brother-in-law, Maurice Thomas; sisters-in-law, Rachel Josey, Beatrice Thomas, Carolyn Lansden, and Annetta Lansden.

 

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her children, Anthony Lansden (Sophia), Kelley (Anthony) McDonald, Corey (Tinika) Lansden, and Krisha Lansden; 23 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Lee Josey and Eddie James (Michelle) Josey Jr.; sister-in-law, Diane Josey; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 

Bertha will lie in state on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church.
