CHI Memorial is kicking off the public phase of its Care Closer to Home capital campaign to support the new hospital it will build in Ringgold. On Tuesday, hospital leadership and community leaders announced more than half of the campaign’s $5 million goal has already been raised thanks to the lead gifts from the Frank Pierce Foundation and Rich and Barbara Kramer.
Now, the health system invites local residents and community members to join these donors in supporting the new hospital.
The goal is to raise the final $2 million by June 2024. All gifts, regardless of the amount, will help achieve the fundraising goal. Online donations can be made at
supportmemorialfoundation.org/donate or by calling 423 495-4438. All donations designated for CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia will stay in the Northwest Georgia community to support the new hospital project.
“Our citizens have rallied behind this project since day one, to have their own first-class community hospital,” said Angie Stiggins, CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia administrator. “The public phase of the campaign is an invitation for everyone who cares about Catoosa, Dade, and Walker Counties to make a gift to have their health care closer to home.”
CHI Memorial acquired the license to operate the current CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia in Fort Oglethorpe, in December 2017. At that time, hospital leadership committed to build a new hospital facility better designed and capable of accommodating the equipment and technology standards of today.
Since receiving the certificate of need (CON) from the State of Georgia in December 2022, CHI Memorial has been completing the project plans to get ready for construction on the new facility.
“Teams of hospital employees, clinicians, and physicians have been working with design and construction experts for several months to complete the design that will support the services to be provided to patients,” said Andrew McGill, chief strategist at CHI Memorial. “The final design documents will be submitted to the State of Georgia for review this month, and we anticipate approval in late fall.”
The new hospital in Ringgold will feature 64 inpatient beds including an intensive care unit (ICU), as well as a full service emergency department, operating rooms, comprehensive imaging services and non-invasive cardiac imaging. The new facility will join together with the existing CHI Memorial Rees Skillern Cancer Institute and medical office buildings to create a comprehensive campus providing a seamless inpatient and outpatient care experience.
