Free, Fun Fitness Challenge For All Begins Oct. 9

  • Tuesday, October 3, 2023
Join the University of Tennessee Extension’s award-winning Move Around the Region six-week fitness challenge for motivation and a chance to win outstanding prizes.

Visit https://hamilton.tennessee.edu/ to learn more and register to receive weekly emails and motivational tools to keep healthy heading into winter months.

The challenge runs from Oct. 9-Nov. 19.

Participants earn “miles” for regular activities, such as walking and biking, but can also accumulate “miles” for yard work and playing pickleball.
Easy to use tools will help participants calculate their weekly activity.

Anyone age eight and up is eligible to register, regardless of location.

Hamilton County UT Extension Agent, June Puett says, “This is a fun opportunity to engage friends and family of all fitness levels across the country to encourage each other to move more. You can even enter miles for those without computer skills.”

Move Around the Region is hosted by University of Tennessee Extension in Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, Meigs, Polk and Rhea Counties. Contact the Family & Consumer Science Extension Agent in these counties or call the Hamilton County office at 423-309-8560 for more information.

“You don’t have to accumulate the most miles to win prizes,” according to Ms. Puett. Weekly drawings will be held for those reporting their miles from a weekly email link sent from the Extension office.

"Regional partners have made the event fun by providing incentives," officials said. "Thanks to River Canyon Adventures for kayak or paddle board passes, Bike Chattanooga, Terra Running for gift card and running accessories, Lodge Manufacturing for cookware, Polk County Chamber of Commerce and Bigfoot Outfitters Rafting for Ocoee River passes, RedMaple Sportswear for alpaca socks, Erlanger Health System for a travel bag with health tools, The Sock Shop for upscale hiking socks, Master Gardeners of Hamilton County for Garden Expo passes and Chattanooga Bluebird Society for a bluebird house and baffle."
