John Lawrence Stanaway, age 57, of Chattanooga, died August 25, 2004 at his residence.
He was born in Manhattan, NY and was a graduate from Long Island University at Southhampton and USAF Officer training. He served in the USAF from 1969 until 1972.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was employed with 3M Company for over thirty years as National Accounts Manager.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Vaughn Stanaway; daughter, Kimberly (Jamie) Horton of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Jeffrey Stanaway currently serving with Peace Corps in Lesotho, Southern Africa; step-daughter,
Julie (Matt) Ziegler of Ringgold; step-son, Will (Allison) Hobbs of Rossville; grandchildren, Matthew Horton of Lawrencville, GA, Brooke Henry of Ringgold, Gracen and Raven Hobbs of Rossville; sisters, Linda (Bob) Krall of Millbrook, NY, Laura Stanaway of LaGrangeville, NY, and maternal aunt, Miss Wilhelmina Bell of Ridgewood, NJ.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the following health care staff: Dr. Noel Scidmore and his wonderful staff at the Sarah Cannon Center in Chattanooga; Dr. Gandhi and his office staff in Chattanooga. Dr. Skip Burris, Noel, Rachell and other staff at Tennessee Oncology in Nashville.
The memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church 4 p.m. Sunday, with Dr. Dennis Newman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the church.
