Jane S. Holzer Grauer, 82, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Great Neck, N.Y., died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Her daughter is Diane "Cookie" Siskin, who was the longtime travel editor for the Chattanooga Free Press.
Surivors include daughter, Diane (Charles) Siskin, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., formerly of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Brooke Nebel and Jamie Hubbard of Atlanta, formerly of Chattanooga.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Home Bettendorf, Iowa, or Temple Emanuel Davenport, Iowa.
Mrs. Grauer was born September 26, 1922, to Clara Betty (Cohen) and Jerome Weill. She married Marvin L. Holzer on April 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York. He died February 9, 1972. She later married Dr. William S. Grauer on January 1, 1975, in Great Neck, New York. She was a teacher for the Great Neck, New York School System for many years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Temple Emanuel, Davenport, Iowa, and Temple Beth-El, Great Neck, New York; a member of Iota Alpha Pi Sorority; Lionelles Club of Bettendorf, Iowa; a member of the Gun Club #336 of Glenhead, New York; and a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling around the world together. She loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Diane and Charles Siskin, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Susan Van Berg, of New York City, New York, Judy and Michael Herscher, of Sacramento, California, and Louise Sullivan and Robert Ferris, of Bettendorf, Iowa; two stepsons, Anthony Grauer and his wife, Helene, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Neil A. Grauer, of Baltimore, Maryland; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Roshkind, of Lakeworth, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Holzer, and a son-in-law, Neil Sullivan.
