Martha Boroughs Anderson, of Chattanooga, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, embraced by her loving children.

She was born on February 28, 1915 in Norris, South Carolina and spent her childhood there.

Martha graduated from Limestone College and had been a resident of the Chattanooga area for 50 years.

She was a dedicated teacher, working with children with special needs. Martha volunteered with Reach to Recovery, and taught exercise classes for years at the Senior Neighbors and Northside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Drummond Anderson.

Martha is survived by her two children, Martha Jo Anderson of Middletown, RI, and Jim Anderson of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Kristin Hersh O’Connell and David James Hersh; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Millard officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alexian Village Employee Christmas Fund, 100 James Blvd.; Signal Mountain, Tennessee 37377.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
