Purple Heart Recipient Was WWII And Korean War Veteran

Dee Brown, 89 of Chattanooga, died on Friday, October 19, 2007.

He was the son of the late H.L. and Mary Smith Brown. Dee was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He and his wife, Irene, were members of the White Oak Baptist Church and were involved with the Homebound Ministry at the church.

Dee retired from Signal Mountain Portland Cement in 1983 after 27 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Brown; son, Billy Joe Brown and wife, Karen of New Johnsonville, Tn.; daughter, Nancy Beach and husband, R.C. of Chattanooga; brother, Lee Brown, Waverly, Oh.; grandchildren, Angie and Jeff King, Chattanooga, Dan Beach, their devoted caregiver of Chattanooga, Karen and Todd Wertz, Waverly, Tn., and Sharon Bowker, Murfreesboro, Tn.; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Stan Braley officiating.
