Parkridge Honors Employees With Maestro Awards

Parkridge Medical Center, Parkridge East Hospital and Parkridge Valley each named their Maestro Award winner at a holiday event held at the Chattanooga Theatre Center.

The winners were Kevin Rodman, R.N., Parkridge Medical Center; Karen Brackett, Parkridge East Hospital; and Stuart Holt, R.N., Parkridge Valley. The Maestro Award winners were chosen from numerous nominees who were selected based on their customer service focus and attitude.

Kevin Rodman is director of the Cardiac Stepdown unit on 3West at Parkridge Medical Center. He has worked at Parkridge since May, 1993, and previously served as a staff nurse in the emergency room, nursing supervisor and unit director. Mr. Rodman’s nominations included comments such as “Kevin takes care of everyone, always speaks and helps visitors; Kevin goes above and beyond every day in a quiet manner; and Kevin makes Parkridge a better place to work.”

Mr. Rodman’s supervisor Deborah Deal, associate chief nursing officer at Parkridge, said, “Kevin is the epitome of a caring, compassionate nurse. He is always the first to arrive if there is an emergency in any department and works tirelessly to make sure that patients receive excellent care. He truly cannot say 'no' to anyone who asks him for help.”

Mr. Rodman and his wife, Charlene, reside in McDonald, Tn.

Karen Brackett is the administrative assistant to the chief executive officer and chief financial officer at Parkridge East Hospital. She has worked there since May, 2005.

Ms. Brackett’s nomination stated that she is always kind, supportive and a true business lady in dealing with difficult situations. “She has a smile for everyone and goes out of her way and takes extra time to make doctors and doctors’ office staff happy,” read Brackett’s nomination. “Karen is loyal to the hospital and administrative decisions and stands strongly for what is ‘right.’”

Mark Sims, chief executive officer at Parkridge East, who has worked with Ms. Brackett for four years, said, ”Karen is an exemplary employee who has a great attitude and is always willing to go the extra mile to solve a problem. I enjoy working with Karen because she is organized, proactive and positive. She’s a tremendous asset to our team.”

Karen and her husband, David, have three children and reside in Jasper.

Stuart Holt is the primary charge nurse on second shift for the Child Adolescent Unit at Parkridge Valley. She has been employed since September 2004. Ms. Holt is also an active member of the Employee Advisory Group at the facility.

Her nomination stated that she is able to manage the challenges of working second shift with little managerial support in a cheerful and professional manner and with a positive attitude. “Stuart projects and lives the standards of service excellence like most of us breathe,” her nomination form read.

“Stuart is the nurse you would want to care for you if you were a patient. Her compassion, professionalism and steadiness partner with her dedication to create a source of comfort for our patients, families and her co-workers,” said Mary Margaret Halverson, chief financial officer for Parkridge Valley. “Stuart is extremely dedicated to the treatment of the child and adolescent patients at Valley. She is a registered nurse who exemplifies the caring and compassionate qualities required of her profession. Working the second shift is typically challenging and Stuart always manages in a cheerful and professional manner.”

Ms. Holt and her husband, Jim, have two children and reside in Signal Mountain.

Other employees who were nominated for the 2007 Maestro Awards from the three Parkridge facilities included Brenda Frist, Emily Seiter, Adam Royer, Suzanne Scruggs, Pat Ennis, Billy Jacks, Linda Seal, Rhonda Roper, Phil Bassel, Russell Gilbert, Delois Bernard, Tim Todd, Jennifer Coleman, and Christy Johnson.

The Maestro Award is given annually to one employee at each Parkridge facility who best demonstrates the organization’s service excellence focus.

Darrell Moore, president and CEO of Parkridge Medical Center, Inc., said, “A Maestro is defined as a master in any art, and this year’s Maestro Award recipients certainly demonstrate mastery of the art of healthcare and customer service. Our Maestro Awards recognize remarkable employees who personify service, compassion and responsibility. Each one of these individuals sets the example for exemplary customer service. I am very proud of each of these individuals and glad to have them as part of our Parkridge team.”
