Palmer Griffin
Susan Palmer Griffin, age 16, of Signal Mountain, Tn., died on Tuesday March 27, 2007. On Thursday, March 29, she would have celebrated her 17th birthday. She was a patient at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
She was a graduate of Bright School and a member of the junior class at Girls Preparatory School. Since her enrollment at GPS she had served in each of her classes as an officer including junior class treasurer.
While at GPS she played soccer and lacrosse. She also served as a counselor at GPS Camp Kaleidoscope. Miss Palmer was a member of the Chattanooga Assault Futbol Club and Nike Impact USA Soccer Club. Additionally, she served as a member of the Why Know Teen Board.
She is survived by her parents, John Mark and Susan Banks Griffin, of Signal Mountain; one brother, Banks Griffin; two sisters, Mary Woodruff and Sally Darr Griffin; grandparents, Dr. Woodruff and Marjorie Banks all of Signal Mountain; Charles R. and Nancy Griffin of McKinney, Tx.; great-grandmother, Ruby Bush of McKinney, Tx., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the East Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at First Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Neal, Dr. David Harr and the Rev. Gedge Gayle officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
