Jack A. Middleton, 80, died on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Middleton was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga-North Georgia area, where he was a member and a deacon of Bible Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and was retired from Chattanooga Glass Co. and the Tennessee Welcome Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Tennie Middleton, and four brothers, James Middleton, J.R., D.C. Middleton, Conage Middleton and Bobby Middleton.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Middleton; son, Donnie (Linda) Middleton, of Fort Oglethorpe; two daughters, Valerie (Donnie) Thomason, of Dayton, Ohio, and Darlene (Steve) Sams, of Chattanooga; brothers and sisters, Gussie Vinson, of Chattanooga, John Middleton, of Manchester, Tn., Ruby King, of Thomasville, N.C., Ann Peoples, of South Pittsburg, Tn., Shirley Campbell, of Chattanooga, Jimmie Cooper, of Chattanooga, and Barbara Knight, of South Pittsburg, Tn.; seven grandchildren, Tina, Mark, Kim, Kelli, Kristal, Kevin and Brandi; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Gravley, the Rev. Jack Pendegrass, and the Rev. Burman Cape officiating.
Mr. Middleton will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with Mr. Middleton’s nephews serving as pallbearers and the deacons of Bible Baptist Church serving as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-9 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
