Eloise Evelyn Dill Griffith, 88, of Signal Mountain, died on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Alexian Village, after a short hospitalization and illness.

Eloise retired from 3M and General Electric where she had been employed for over 30 years. She felt very privileged to have been given this employment opportunity and was an exemplary employee. She also intermittently held several other jobs over the years and especially enjoyed being a caregiver to several elderly people in the community.

A true highlight in her life was designing, hand making, and selling her crafts and hobbies. Many children today still enjoy the dolls, stuffed animals, and “very famous furry blankets” made by her hands.

Some of her most happy and memorable times was spent with fellow craftsmen at regional craft fairs. She was a charter member of the Signal Mountain Church of God where she devotedly served for 69 years.

Along with her family, much of her life was focused around her service and activities of the church.

A native of Hamilton and Sequatchie Counties, she was a daughter of the late William Walter Dill and Eula Jane Griffith Dill, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Griffith; as well as a brother, Carlos P. Dill; sister, Polly Dill Johnson; and infant son, Roy Lee (Beau) Griffith.

Eloise is survived by her four children, Nancy Branham, Norma Jean (James) Hatfield, Linda Shook and Ronnie (Kathy) Griffith; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Her surviving family extends deeply as she was a neighborhood and spiritual “Granny” to many others whom she loved and cared for over the years. Her home and heart were always open as she lived an exemplary life of benevolence and love.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, and 1-2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, at the North Chapel.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Rev. Paul Massey, Rev Pat Parker and Stephen Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
