Cheers To RG III

  • Wednesday, December 19, 2012

I just wanted to write briefly to say, "Bravo", to Roy for his article concerning RGIII and Rob Parkers comments.  I was very irritated and offended when I watched the clip that Roy refers to.   I'm half white and half black, I found his comments very insulting on a number of levels.

As I heard someone else point out, people like Rob Parker have no problem calling President Obama black, though he is half white and half black, and want to "claim" him as part of the black community, but then he questions RGIII for having a white fiancee.  Well, where does he think bi-racial people like the President come from?

The absurdity and hypocrisy in Parker's comments received a strong backlash from people of all racial backgrounds, as they should have, as they were inappropriate, unnecessary, and racist.  Cheers to RGIII for wanting to be defined by his body of work rather than the color of his body, and cheers to Roy for a thoughtful commentary on the subject.
