Doris Nelson, 78, of Whitwell, TN, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 17, 1934 in Lilbourn, MO, to Jessie and Mary Gilliam. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards with friends and family, needlepoint, crocheting, and just about any craft she could find.
She is survived by her husband, Philip Nelson to whom she was married to for 57 years; three sons, Richard Nelson from Dunlap, William Nelson from Tinley Park, IL and Randall Nelson and his wife Cheryl from Hazelcrest, IL; two daughters, Deborah Fiaschetti from New Bern, NC and Sandra Nelson from Acworth, GA; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. CST, on Saturday, December 22,with John Schumer officiating.Entombment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. CST, on Friday, December 21 at the Tate Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
