Gas Prices Drop 3.5 Cents In Chattanooga

  • Monday, April 23, 2012

Average retail gasoline prices in Chattanooga have fallen 3.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.67 per gallon on Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.85 per gallon, according to gasoline price website ChattanoogaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Chattanooga during the past week, prices Sunday were 0.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 1.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 0.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 1.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

"Average gasoline prices nationally continue to slowly drop," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "I'll go on the record and say that come Wednesday, I expect the national average in the U.S. will actually be lower than it was on the same day in 2011. Perhaps looking at the big picture with prices having failed to reach new records so far in 2012, we can restore some gas-sanity in this country. Prices go up and down every year, every season, regardless of who's name is on the ballot."
