Jack Quillen, 68, of Columbia, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept 30,  from post-op complications following surgery.

Jack was born in Hobart, In., and moved to Chattanooga in his early teens.  He attended Red Bank schools and The University of Chattanooga, and then went to work for IBM first in Chattanooga, then Tallahassee, and Columbia in 1973. He retired from IBM in 1995 and then worked in IT for the University of South Carolina and Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, from which he had recently retired. 

Jack was an avid hunter and loved music and music festivals, and was involved with the Woodshed musical performance group in Columbia.   

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jennifer Pfitzer Quillen, daughter, Caroline Quillen (Kyle Black) of Columbia, brother, Tom Quillen (Kim), of Chattanooga, and niece, Lori Quillen (Brendan Cleary) of Chattanooga.  

Funeral services will be at St. John's Episcopal Church, Columbia, on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m.   

Arrangements are by Dunbar Funeral Home, Columbia.  

Memorial gifts may be made in lieu of flowers to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, 727 E. 11th Street, 37402
