County Commission Candidate Smartt Meets With Supt. Smith

Phil Smartt, candidate for County Commission District 7, said he met Thursday with Rick Smith, superintendent of Hamilton County Schools. 

His staff said, "Phil knew Rick Smith from when he served on the School Board in the late 1980's early 1990's. Rick was an employee of Hamilton County schools in Soddy Daisy and the two have a cordial relationship.  

"Phil and Rick talked about the needs for our county and how the school board and county commission can work together to accomplish the educational needs in district 7. East Brainerd, Apison, Ooltewah and Collegedale were part of their discussion as they talked about specific needs for these areas. 

"Also mentioned in the meeting was the need for a Vocational-Technical School."
