Minnie Maude Chappel, 99, died on February 22, 2013 at a local nursing home.

She was educated in the public school system in Morgan County, Ga., and received a degree in Secretarial Science from Zion College. She retired from the Chattanooga City School System after 25 years of service.

She was a member of New Emmanuel M.B. Church and the Adah Chapter Number One Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Chapel, Forestine Bryant, Chattanooga, Brenda Jackson, Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Howard (Christy) LeSure, Chappell Craw, Krystain Bryant, all of Chattanooga; brothers, George C. Brown, Bostwick, Ga., William McKinley Brown, Chicago; devoted family friend, Patricia Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday, March 1, at 11:30 a.m., at New Emmanuel M.B. Church, with officiating Pastor Terrance Hanner, and eulogist, Pastor Clark Willliams. Interment will be in National Cemetery

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Feb. 28, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
