Salomon Brings Urban Trail Running Event To Chattanooga

  • Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Salomon, a leader in technical design and innovation in mountain sports, is bringing its hit event series, CITYTRAIL to the Chattanooga area on Oct. 25. The looped urban running race takes place during RiverRocks, the region’s premier outdoor festival and includes distances of 30-kilometer and 10-kilometer, both starting and ending at the stunning Renaissance Park bordering the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga.

CITYTRAIL events are part trail and part pavement runs that unveil opportunities within urban landscapes to experience dynamic terrain challenges typically found in trail running. The courses will include stairs, multi-surface paths and side streets within the cities and will get an inside view at some of Chattanooga’s historic features. Suunto is the official timing partner and will manage the race start and finish times at each event.

“The CITYTRAIL events in San Francisco and Minneapolis earlier this year saw great success and participants found that the trail running experience within the city limits was liberating and exciting,” said Ashley Williams, vice president of marketing at Amer Sports Americas. “It makes races more fun and dynamic and we are certain that people in the Chattanooga area will similarly embrace this great opportunity."
