FSG Bank announces that Albert W. “Al” Secor has joined its Trusts & Estates Group as senior vice president and trust officer.

"Mr. Secor brings long-term and extensive experience to wealth and trust clients, having served as a trust officer at one of Chattanooga’s largest financial institutions, and more recently developed a new wealth and trust offering at another local financial institution," officials said.

“FSG is committed to providing the highest level of trust and estate services throughout the region,” states Bart Rolen, executive vice president and director of Wealth Management and Trust.
“With the addition of Al to the team, we now have eight professionals located in Chattanooga with a combined 165 years of experience who are specifically focused on providing trust and estate services.”

Before beginning his banking career, Mr. Secor was a private practicing lawyer and focused his practice on estate planning, tax, and administration of estates.

"In addition to serving individual clients, Mr. Secor and a group of similarly qualified lawyers from across Tennessee have been instrumental in updating Tennessee’s will, estate administration, trust, guardian and conservator laws enabling Tennessee to be one of the leading jurisdictions in the United States in these areas," officials stated.

Mr. Secor is the author of Tennessee Probate, a handbook for lawyers and paralegals in the proper management of estates, and Tennessee Elder Law, a handbook for lawyers and paralegals to assist their clients in planning for aging and the challenge of managing their affairs.

Mr. Secor received both accounting and Doctor of Law degrees from Emory University and earned a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University.

Mr. Secor served as an adjunct professor at UTC in the School of Business and Cleveland State Community College in its Legal Assistant program.  For many years he authored materials used throughout the U.S. to train lawyers, legal assistants, accountants and trust officers in the administration of estates and the preparation of U.S. Estate Tax and U.S. Fiduciary Income Tax returns.

Mr. Secor is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Foundations and holds membership in the American, Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Associations and other professional organizations.

He and his wife Gail reside in Hixson.
