Covenant's Davidson Named Academic All-American

  • Friday, November 21, 2014
Covenant men's soccer senior Snoopy Davidson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® second team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Friday.

Davidson was one of 33 student-athletes from across NCAA Division III to be recognized on one of the three All-America teams. He becomes the first student-athlete from Covenant to earn Academic All-America honors from the Capital One/CoSIDA program.

A senior from Rome, Georgia, Davidson was also named USA South Player of the Year earlier this month and ended the season leading the team with 12 goals and six assists, despite missing five matches due to an injury in late September and early October. Of his 12 goals, four were game-winners and he had a stretch of six straight matches in which he scored at least one goal.

Davidson led the Scots to their first USA South tournament championship and a berth into the NCAA tournament. He was named USA South tournament MVP after tallying three goals in three matches in the tournament.

Davidson is majoring in Economics and has an overall GPA of 3.71. He has been on Covenant's Dean's List and Athletic Honor Roll in each of his first two semesters after transferring from the University of South Carolina. Davidson was also a member of the USA South All-Academic team in 2013-14.
