Archie Harold “Bood” Burchard, Sr., 93, of Flat Top Mountain, died on Thursday, December 18, 2014.
He was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church. Mr. Burchard retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 ½ years of service originally enlisting in the U.S. Army and later transferring to the Army Air Corps. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He loved to coon hunt and track honeybees. Bood was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Christiane Maison Burchard; sons, Archie H. Burchard, Jr. (Barbara); Christian “Chris” Burchard and Michael G. Burchard (Tina); daughter, Cheryl Smith (Alex); sister, June Johnson (Lloyd); eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Varner Cemetery.
Visitation is on Sunday, Dec. 21, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
