Ooltewah Student Awarded Scholarship To Davidson College

An Ooltewah student, Kyhl Alexander Austin, has received the Thompson S. and Sarah S. Baker-Vagt Scholarship as an incoming student at Davidson College. Kyhl will enroll with the Class of 2018 in August.

Kyhl is the son of Lesley and Deron Austin of Turtle Crossing, and is a graduate of Chattanooga Christian School.

A part of The Davidson Trust, the Baker-Vagt scholarship program was established by Ted Baker '57, his wife Ann, and Davidson's 16th president, Robert F.
"Bobby" Vagt '69, and his wife, Ruth Anne, to recognize students who exhibit leadership skills, academic excellence, outstanding personal qualities proven through school and community activities, and a strong demonstrated work ethic.  The awards are generally offered to only three students in each entering class.
