Sure, there are "4th of July" and "July 4th" signs all over the place, but what's the big deal? Just about every country in the world has a July 4.
Now, "Independence Day" - that's another story. As a proud American, I'll be celebrating what remaining freedoms we have.
Sadly, so many kids these days have no idea of what the holiday is all about, besides a day to shoot off fireworks and have picnics. Changing the name of it only helps to destroy our heritage and takes us a step close to the One World Order and the abolition of sovereign nations; mention "Independence Day" to most young folks, and they think it's a movie about an alien attack.
Let's teach them the truth, and start out by boldly proclaiming, "Happy Independence Day!" (And be sure you're ready to explain what the celebrations are about.)

As usually, my good friend Arlene is “right on” with her comments. Our children are not learning American history or civics in schools anymore. They don’t even know the three branches of government, which I studied in 7th grade. They don’t know the hardships our founders endured to free our great nation from the tyranny of another (Britain).
The kids don’t know how to spell, thanks to texting or how to write (long-hand) because they aren’t even teaching it anymore in some schools. They are growing up and graduating ignorant of what makes America great. And once they get to college, forget it. Professors with extreme radical ideology are allowed to preach their socialist leaning propaganda, thus churning out graduates who will vote with the same bent. It’s called “the dumbing down” of America.
When you are ignorant of history and facts, you will vote for whoever can brainwash you the easiest. Look at the poor shape of our country now, because of ignorant voters. It up to you, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and all Americans, to make sure our kids get a foundational glimpse of how our country was formed, and why the U.S. Constitution is so important as the law of the land and why it must be adhered to.
Independence Day is certainly a day to cherish. It is a day to get on your knees and thank God for your freedoms as they are being taken away, day by day. Sparklers and fireworks are nice, but I will challenge you parents, grandparents and all Americans to make a concerted effort to learn about the history of this great country. We are the shining beacon on the hill for so many.
May God bless America and restore her greatness in 2014 and 2016. It’s not hopeless as long as we Americans remember from where we came, and those who gave all, so that we may be free.
