Tommy Hugh Jackson, 69, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. 

He grew up in Red Bank, graduated from Red Bank High School in 1962 and received his bachelor's and master’s degrees at the University of Chattanooga, now UTC. He played basketball throughout his high school and college years. 

Tommy had a 39-year career with Provident and enjoyed the people with whom he worked.  Throughout his life, he enjoyed coaching little league, teaching Sunday School, fishing and playing golf.  Later, he became a certified master gardener and spent many years giving back to the community through his involvement with this group.  

Tommy was an active member of Red Bank Baptist Church for 47 years and Red Bank United Methodist Church for 21 years.  He touched many lives with his positive outlook and deep faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Hugh Jackson and Irene Groves Jackson. 

Tommy is survived by his wife, Betty Mee Jackson, sons, Jeffrey Hugh (Ronna-Renee) Jackson and Bradley Keith (Juliet) Jackson; sister and brother-in-law, Glynda (Bob) Brown; stepbrother, Frank (Donna) Gordy; two step-children, Andy (Amber) Pitts ; Stacy (Neal) Bennett; eight grandchildren, Hugh, Sarah-Catherine, Brooks and Saylor Jackson, Ryleigh and Colt Pitts, and Lynn and Will Bennett. He is also survived by his uncle, Mack Jackson; cousin Nancy Jackson Dutto and their extended families.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 26, from 4-7 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace and Sunday, July 27, from 2-3 p.m. at Red Bank United Methodist Church. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Red Bank United Methodist Church with Reverend Bruce Galyon and David Brackett officiating. 

Contributions can be made to the Masters Gardeners of Hamilton County or the Youth Department at RBUMC.
