Silverdale Baptist used a first quarter touchdown run by Hunter Arnold and fourth quarter interceptions by Tanner Webb and Michael Weiss to key a 10-6 win against visiting Grundy County Friday night in a non-district high school football game. Connor Eischeid added an extra point and a third quarter field goal.

"Grundy is a good football team who moved the ball on us all night, yet our defense bent but didn't break," said Silverdale Baptist coach Al Rogers. "We were able to come up with some big interceptions late."

Grundy TD Drive: Trailing 10-0 with 3:08 remaining in the game, the visiting Yellow Jackets drove 75 yards in six plays capped by a Trent Hampton (fourth string quarterback) to Logan Meeks touchdown pass (23 yards) to make it 10-6 with 53 seconds to play.

Grundy missed the extra point attempt and Silverdale's Hunter Arnold recovered the onsides kick and the Golden Eagles then ran out the clock

Grundy County coach Nick Bryant said, " I have not been more proud of a team and their effort in my years of coaching as I am of our guys tonight. The way we battled and played without some key players due to injuries was impressive.

"To the defense, you played your hearts out. After they scored on that first series of the game it was lights out.

"This loss hurts bad. You fought and clawed and gave us a chance to win at the end."

Silverdale Scoring: - Touchdown Drive. The Golden Eagles took the opening kickoff and marched 68 yards in five plays as Hunter Arnold scored on a six yard run at 9:37. Connor Eischeid made good on the point after touchdown for a 7-0 lead. Key Play: Michael Weiss ran 37 yards to the Grundy County 6 to set up Arnold's score.

Field Goal: Connor Eischeid's 27 yard field goal at 8:40 of the third quarter made it 10-0 Silverdale. The victors took advantage of a short Grundy County punt and taking possession at the Yellow Jackets 34 after a 17 yard punt needed five plays to score.

Giving From the Heart: Silverdale Baptist Academy presented a check for $1,000 to Grundy Co. principal for the Dees family who lost their home and most possessions in a fire last Friday.
