The University of West Georgia Alumni Association has announced the top 30 Under 30 list for 2014. The nomination process for the 2014 list was completed on May 1.

Chattanooga resident Lindsay Michele Murray is included in the esteemed list of 30. Ms. Murray is a producer and sports reporter for NBC-affiliate, WRCB, in Chattanooga.

Ms. Murray is a 2009 graduate of the UWG with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, and a minor in sociology. While at UWG, Ms. Murray worked for UTV-13, the campus television news show, and wrote for the West Georgian, the student run school newspaper.
Ms. Murray was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, where she held several offices.

After graduating UWG, Murray began working at a local television station in Warner Robins, Ga. Ms. Murray said,  “Working in news is an exciting, fast-paced environment, and keeps you on your toes at all times! I’ve really enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the industry, and meeting a lot of great people throughout the years. I hope to continue my journey in news.”

Ms. Murray is engaged to be married in September to her fiancé Drew.

"From teachers and doctors to accountants and media personalities, the second class of 30 Under 30 showcases a promising and already successful group of UWG alumni," officials stated. Those nominated and chosen must have earned an undergraduate degree from the University of West Georgia and must be under the age of 30 as of August 31. The nominees must have made a documentable impact in business, education, leadership, government, research, service or other area, while also demonstrating dedication to the University of West Georgia and its mission of teaching, research, and service. In short, the list represents the very best of UWG graduates.

“This year the Young Alumni Council’s Awards and Nominations committee faced yet another daunting task of over 50 fantastic nominations to sift through,” explains Kevin Hemphill ’07, coordinator of alumni relations. “However, these 30 chosen have set the bar for future nominations even higher than before. Congratulations to this year’s class of honorees.”

While 17 of the 30 chosen are from Georgia, the alumni are representing UWG in other states including Alabama, California, Connecticut and Tennessee.  For more information please visit the UWG Alumni website at www.westga.edu/alumni.
