Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc. Names Chief Human Resources Officer

Michele Herlein has joined Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon, Inc., as Chief Human Resources Officer. 

“Our focus on talent management, corporate culture, and employee engagement is an important component of the Barge Waggoner business strategy,” said Bob Higgins, chief executive officer. “So, I am thrilled to welcome Michele to our leadership team. Her experience, talent and energy will greatly assist us in continuing to cultivate an engaging environment that is authentic inside and out.”

Prior to joining Barge Waggoner, Ms. Herlein spent eight years with Bridgestone Americas, most recently serving as vice president of Talent, Organization & Culture. She was responsible for areas that include leadership development, performance management, succession planning, corporate culture and organizational development. Ms. Herlein once owned a consulting business, which provided training needs assessment, design, development, and facilitation which followed a successful stint with Drake Beam Morin, Inc. as Managing Consultant.

Ms. Herlein graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communication. She earned her doctorate in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University.

Ms. Herlein has published and presented articles on competency development, change management, coaching, leadership development, and cultural development.
