UTC Women Third At Pinehurst Challenge

  • Monday, October 12, 2015
The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team opened the Pinehurst Challenge with a 1-under par 287 and finished the 36-hole day with a level-par 288. That puts the Mocs tied for third with Elon at 575 (-1) on Pinehurst No. 1.

It also extends the squad’s par or better streak to five consecutive rounds. That’s a school record. It was powered by 15 birdies on their finishing holes (1-6) from a shotgun start.

Cris Perez and Monica San Juan led the way with 1-under 143s. The duo is tied for 14th.
Megan Woods and Emily McLennan are two behind them in 24th at +1. Perez, San Juan and Woods all turned in the best 36-hole totals of their young careers.

Isabella Loza contributed a 73 to the first round tally of 287. Her 76 in round two was the drop score as she stands at 149.

East Carolina is in the lead at 6 under. It owns a three-shot advantage over Iowa in second and five clear of the Mocs and Phoenix in third. William & Mary’s Alessandra Liu and College of Charleston’s Louise Olsson are tied for the individual lead at -8.

The final round is an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. Chattanooga is paired with ECU, Iowa and Elon opening on holes 1-3. Click the live scoring and pairings links above for more information.
