May Dan Davis McKnight, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on December 29, 2015.

She was born in Prescott, Arkansas on Jan. 6, 1927, to the late Roy F. and Opal Davis. May Dan graduated in 1944 from ElDorado High School, ElDorado, Ar., where she was a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority.  She worked for TOSCO and Murphy Oil Corporation in ElDorado as an account clerk for many years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of ElDorado.

She moved to Chattanooga in 2000 to be near her family.  She attended Hixson United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Sam P. McConnell Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Veldon R. McKnight. 

May Dan is survived by her daughter, Nancy McKnight of Chattanooga, granddaughter Leslie Petersen (Ryan) of Camarillo, CA; brother Charles F. “Chili” Davis (Sisty); niece Jill Davis, and nephew Brent Davis (Terri) all of Jonesboro, AR.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.  A memorial service will be held in El Dorado, Arkansas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in May Dan’s name to the Building Fund or Organ Fund at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
