Jack Benjamin Purcell, 81, Ringgold, died on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

Jack served his country as a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeview for over 50 years and a member of the Shipley Sunday School Class. Jack worked in the construction industry for over 60 years where he retired as president of Diversified Tile and Marble, Inc.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, James Truman Purcell and Lucille Jones Purcell. Blessed by a large family, Jack was also preceded in death by his eight siblings.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Kathleen Hammonds Purcell; sons, James (Jana) Purcell, Atlanta, and Scott (Sheila) Purcell, Rossville; and grandson, Jack Benjamin II.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Patrick Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Jack’s gentle nature and generosity will always remain in the heart of his family and friends.
