Benny Helton
Benny Lamar Helton, 79, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his home.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Benny was a graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. He served as president of J. D. Helton Roofing Company where he retired in 1997. Benny served in the National Guard 181st Field Battalion. He also served on boards of local, state and national professional organizations in the roofing industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Tennie Helton and siblings, Edith Helton, Roy Helton, Helen Emerson, Granville Helton, J.R. Helton and Emmett Helton.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Chastain Helton, his children, Kim (Jill) Helton, Jay (Susan) Helton and Tina (Billy) White, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Taylor Helton and Andrew Helton; siblings, Dorothy Schrader, Gene Helton, Eula Mae Russell and Richard Helton; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Don Allison officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. on Monday at the church.
