CCS Baseball Advances In District 7-AA Tournament

The CCS baseball team opened District 7-AA tournament play on Friday with an 8-2 win over Sequatchie County.  

Zach Mercer was 2 for 2 at the plate and also pitched all seven innings.  Mercer allowed five hits and struck out 11.  

CCS scored in every inning other than the fourth.  

Jared Miller had three hits including a two-run double in the fifth and a homerun in the second.  

Josh Taylor had one hit and two RBI's.  Justin Wheeler, Brandon Mason, Josh Taylor and Jon Hundley also had hits.  

Signal Mountain also won on Friday against Grundy County.

CCS will travel to Sequatchie for game two on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Grundy County will play at Signal Mountain Saturday at 3 p.m.

If necessary games will be played on Monday.  The district championship is set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
