Era Scruggs, 100, of North Chattanooga, died on May 19, 2015.
She was a dedicated lay preacher for the Lord.
She was the wife of the late Ben F. Scruggs, Sr. and the mother of Benny (Gearline), Roland (Dorothy), Carolyn Gilliam, Wayne (Julia); fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and play children.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, at Warren Chapel AME at 503 N. Market Street. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. on the same day at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will lie in state after noon Saturday, May 23, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
