The Shannon Brown Honorary Scholarship established through the Chattanooga State Foundation will help provide access and remove financial barriers for students entering the new hospitality degree at Chattanooga State Community College, according to college officials.

The Shannon Brown Honorary Scholarship will provide two $5,000 scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year.

“We are excited and honored to offer our hospitality students scholarship opportunities that will allow them to focus on their course work,” said Shannon Johnson, director of the Michael P. Hennen Hospitality & Culinary Center at Chattanooga State. “This scholarship is a wonderful tribute to a local hospitality leader in our community who is a role model for our students.”

Julie and Shannon Brown owners of JSB Holdings in Chattanooga, have successfully opened six Zaxby’s including three in Chattanooga, and one each in Soddy Daisy, Ooltewah and Fort Oglethorpe.
According to Mr. Johnson, “It is the link with industry leaders like Julie and Shannon Brown that make a community college like Chattanooga State great for our students.”

To qualify for the Shannon Brown Honorary Scholarship, students must enroll at least 12 semester hours in the Hospitality Management Program in one of the four concentrations: culinary arts, food and beverage management, hotel management and tourism.
