The new River Gallery exhibit, opening Saturday and running through Aug. 31, will feature works by Amanda Brazier of Tennessee and Kelly Jean Ohl of Minnesota. There will be an opening reception with the artists on Friday, Aug. 7, from 6:30-8 p.m
Review for the exhibit:
With strong overtones of earth, pattern, and structure the two artists in River Gallery's August exhibit have created extremely involved sculptures and paintings. Minnesota ceramicist Kelly Jean Ohl creates a sensory experience with her highly-textured and patterned ceramic pieces. The objects Ms. Ohl forms are familiar, primordial, and organic as those you may have found on the forest floor or buried beneath the earth.
Local Chattanooga painter Amanda Braizer takes a hands-on approach with her creative process -- first collecting native soils used to make pigments for her handmade paints. Utilizing elements of age-old architectural patterns, Ms. Braizer's paintings are created using layers of geometric imagery evoking a sense of structure.
Events are free and open to the public.
