With near capacity audiences during the first three nights, the bluegrass musical comedy Fat Shirley’s A Trailer Park Opera will finish up its run this week with performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Mountain Arts Community Center.

Since the “Trailer Park Opera” was first staged in a full length version at Dalton Little Theatre in 2005, it has had sell out audiences in Dalton and at numerous venues in the United Kingdom.

Soon after it closes at the MACC, Fat Shirley’s: A Trailer Park Opera will begin a two week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival beginning Monday by the Bristol U.K. theatre group – Three Chords Company. “We are excited about the Trailer Park Opera being produced there,” says Tom Brown.  “It is the largest arts festival in the world, with 3,000 events that draws people from all over the world. It is not something that we ever would have envisioned.”

The Fat Shirley's cast features both veteran actors and newcomers. The cast includes April Aronson, Keith Aronson, Lauren Buckner, Tom Brown, Robert Cyphers, Ken Dryden, Nancy Dryden, Jean Goins, Beth Jolley, Janice Kelley, Mike Kolbas, Debora Orban, Robbie Mathis, Doug May, Ken Orban, Kristin Sharp, Luke Sharp, and Georgia Blythe Sharp. Directed by veteran director and producer Josh Ruben, Fat Shirley’s is a two act musical comedy that will "leave you laughing long after the last twang of the banjo."

The first guitar chord of the show will be strummed at 7 p.m.  For additional information, visit http://fatshirleys.com/ or call 886-1959.
