The Lee University men’s basketball team ended a four-game road stretch with an 80-63 loss at University of West Alabama. The Flames (3-10, 1-7 GSC) return to Paul Dana Walker Arena Saturday afternoon to host Delta State University at 4 p.m. EST.

Chase Cullen led the Flames with 15 points and nine rebounds. CJ Reese added 14 points and Keevin Tyus was the final Lee player in double-digits with 11 points.

Rantavious Gilbert contributed eight points, three rebounds and blocked three shots. Cody Farley tallied seven points, Rico Overall had five points and Jervon Johnson rounded out the Lee scoring with a three-pointer.

Lee made 24-of-61 (.393) shots from the field, including 5-of-15 (.333) from beyond the arc. West Alabama (8-6, 4-4 GSC) was 26-for-55 (.473) from the floor and 11-for-19 (.579) from distance. The Flames took 12 trips to the free throw line and made 10 (.833), while the Tigers converted 17-of-24 (.708) attempts.

“They (West Alabama) shot it well,” said Lee head coach Tommy Brown. “They are well coached and really do a nice job of swinging the ball and screening. They play for each other and take shots they know they can make. It’s not about talent, it’s about execution. They executed very well.”

West Alabama was led by Dakari Mayo’s double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Acie Vance finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 assists. Vance also recorded seven boards.

Simeon Dennis was 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and scored a game-high 16 points. Jake Jobling made 4-of-6 3-point attempts to add 14 more. Cannon Edwards made three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points and Deontaye Ewing was the fifth Tiger in double-digits with 10 markers.
