Youth Blast 2016 Set For Nov. 4-5

The Southeast Tennessee Health Consortium, in collaboration with various Chattanooga area organizations will present Youth Blast 2016: Beyond this Moment, Preparing YOUth for the Future, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.  

This event is for youth in grades 6-12, and is a two-day conference with opportunities to explore various topics relevant to the adolescent experience.  The workshops and activities are designed to empower and prepare youth to be the best in their academics, familial relationships, social interactions, etc., said officials.  

In addition to the youth workshops, there will be sessions for parents to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to parent today's teenager and to encourage positive relationships with their teens, said officials. 

The Youth Blast will begin on Friday, Nov. 4, from 6-9 p.m. with a block party.  There will be activities, entertainment, vendors and food.  On Saturday will be a one-day conference from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The UTC University Center, at 615 McCallie Ave., will host both days.

The keynote speaker for Youth Blast will be Dr. Steve Perry, founder and principal of Capital Preparatory Magnet School, education contributor for CNN and MSNBC, Essence Magazine columnist, best-selling author, and host of the #1 docudrama for TVONE "Save My Son." The Youth Blast is free to all attendees.
