Hospice Of Chattanooga Celebrates 35 Years Of Care

  • Tuesday, October 25, 2016
Hospice of Chattanooga’s signature fundraiser, Holiday Hearts After Dark, will be bigger and better this year, according to officials, as the organization celebrates a milestone — 35 years of care. Since opening its doors in 1981, the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of Hospice of Chattanooga have provided end-of-life care for nearly 50,000 families throughout East Tennessee and North Georgia.

The black tie celebration will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 at The Chattanooga Convention Center from 6:30 p.m.-midnight.

“Our mission as an organization has remained unchanged for 35 years; to listen, honor your choices, and walk with you through life’s journey,” said Meg Beene, executive director for The Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation.
“We are excited to celebrate 35 years of service with our community and raise much needed awareness and support for our mission.”

As the area’s only not-for-profit hospice provider, Holiday Hearts is held each November to support the growing need for patients and caregivers who are unable to pay for care. Since 2006, the Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation has provided more than 7 million dollars of unfunded care — last year alone the Foundation supported over 90 families at a value of $850,000. The funds raised at events like Holiday Hearts also support special programs the organization offers like Perinatal Care, Pediatric Care, Community Grief Counseling and the Hospice Care Center.

“For just $130 per day, Hospice care covers all costs for medicines, supplies, any medical equipment needed and visits from the Team - nurses, social workers, chaplains, nurse assistants and bereavement counselors,” Ms. Beene said. “Donations received to the Foundation helps ensure that no one who needs care is ever turned away.”

This year’s event will showcase the DMP Band, an 11-piece party ensemble from Memphis. The celebration will also include a live auction, raffle, and “experience rooms” where you can learn more about Hospice of Chattanooga services. Attendees will also enjoy a 3-course meal and open bar.

Sponsorship packages and Patron’s Circle opportunities range from $2,500 to $35,000. Individual tickets may be purchased for $325 each.
