Heights Boys Win; Girls Suffer First Loss Of Year

Hamilton Heights’ Hawks defeated Miami Country Day from Florida 88-48 despite South Carolina signee Ibrahim Doumbia scoring 35 points Friday in the Joe Miller Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander each scored 15 points for the Zach Ferrell-coach Hawks (12-4) and Jordan Rawls added 14 points. Walker made three 3-pointers and Rawls two and dished out nine assist and Alexander was credited with eight.

Wheza Panzo contributed 12 points for the Hawks.

Doumbia connected on six 3s.

In Washington, D.C., the Lady Hawks dropped a 46-42 decision against Forest Trails Academy in the Title IX Classic championship game. The tough-to-swallow loss ended Hamilton Heights’ 14-game winning streak opening the season.

The Lady Hawks were nursing a 30-25 lead after three quarters, but couldn’t thwart Forest Trails’ 21-point rally in the fourth.

Forest Trails (12-3) was led by North Carolina signee Leah Church with 12 points.

Jazmine Massengill and Rokia Doumbia each scored 10 points for the Lady Hawks. Massengill also had 10 rebounds.
