U.S. Army Veteran Was A Retired Optometrist

Dr. James A. Reed, 85, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Dr. Reed was born in Etowah, Tn., to the late William and Nora Lee Reed.  He was a retired optometrist and a professional member of SETOS, TOA, AOA, and American Academy of Optometry.  Jim was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church, retired Lion’s Club member and a Mason.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita P. Reed; sons, Alex (Lizanna) Reed of Cincinnati, OH, and Eric (Stacie) Reed of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Kate, and Lily.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home with his son, Reverend Eric Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.
