Bright Fit Week Encourages Activity

  • Monday, April 25, 2016

Physical fitness is an integral part of the curriculum at the Bright School. Bright Fit Week is all about keeping families healthy and moving.

During the week, P.E. classes have a theme and special guest each day. Monday is tennis with Dottie Sorrick. Tuesday is the UTC wrestling team doing jump rope and other activities. On Wednesday, Sodexo will have a granola snack bar at lunch. Thursday features Outdoor Chattanooga, and Friday is an oral health lesson by school nurse Mary Catherine Robbins.

Students and parents can earn tickets for a chance to win several prizes by completing various activities during the week such as exercising for 30 minutes a day and trying a new healthy food at breakfast or dinner. Prizes include a Meerkat bike from Cleary Bicycles worth $700, a bowling party, UNICEF band, giant stuffed hamster, health coaching, $100 Whole Foods gift card and gym visits.

Bright Fit Night on Friday includes 20 vendors representing companies that offer child-friendly physical activities. Parents and students can complete an activity at each booth for more tickets.

A drawing for the prizes will be held on Monday, May 2.
