Prep Tennis: - East Hamilton Girls, Two Notre Dame Teams Headed to State

It was a good day of tennis Thursday for three Chattanooga teams as East Hamilton girls and both Notre Dame teams won state quarterfinal matches and have qualified for next week’s Spring Fling XXIII in Murfreesboro.

 

East Hamilton - AAA: The Hurricanes improved to 18-0 with a 4-1 win against host Murfreesboro, 4-1, and advanced to Spring Fling XXIII for the first time as a AAA school.

 

Notre Dame Girls A-AA: Defending state champion Irish (14-2) defeated Collegedale, 4-1, with victories from Mary Margarat Haywood, Bowie Strozak, Jessica Moore and Liza Davini.

 

Notre Dame Boys A-AA: The Irish defeated Hixson, 4-2, in a state quarterfinals match and now look for their first state title since 1964.

J.R. Davis and Andrew Lizy clinched the win with a 6-2. 6-2 win at No.1 doubles.

 

Singles winners for Notre Dame were J.R. Davis, Jonathan Polcari and Nick Coronis, while Carl Phillips and Richard Vuong posted wins for the Wildcats.

 

Today: GPS hosts Ensworth in a state quarterfinal match at 4 p.m.
