Tennessee's Unemployment Rate for June Is 4.1%

Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that the Tennessee preliminary unemployment rate for June was 4.1 percent, unchanged from the May revised rate of 4.1 percent.
The U.S. preliminary rate for June was 4.9 percent, up two-tenths of a percentage point from the previous month.

  • Over the past year, Tennessee's unemployment rate decreased from 5.7 percent to 4.1 percent while the national rate declined from 5.3 percent to 4.9 percent.
  • Total nonfarm employment increased 11,200 jobs from May to June. The largest increases occurred in leisure/hospitality, local government, & other services.
  • Over the year, nonfarm employment increased 66,800 jobs. The largest increases occurred in education/healthservices,trade/transportation/utilities, & manufacturing.
