After losing 4-of-5 road games to the Jackson Generals and falling out of first place, the Chattanooga Lookouts open a home series with the Tennessee Smokies Tuesday night.

The Lookouts,  2015 Southern League Champions, have slipped into third place in the North Division. The Montgomery Biscuits are in first place with the Jackson Generals, the first half division winners, now in second place, 1 1/2 games back and the Lookouts 2.0 games behind.

The pitching has been more than adequate but the problem has been the lack of timely hitting and run production.

In Game One of the series, Kohl Stewart gets the start for Lookouts manager Doug Mientkiewicz

In their four-game losing streak, Chattanooga scored just six runs in four games, despite the fact that the team is second in hitting with a .257 team-average and second in runs scored.

The Lookouts announced Tuesday that Minor League Baseball and Esurance have unveiled the first annual Esurance Home Field Advantage Award. One Minor League Baseball team in each of the 14 leagues will receive the award based on the highest percentage capacity of their ballpark during the 2016 season.

Chattanooga fans are encouraged to continue to support the Lookouts in this friendly competition by attending games in the home stretch of the regular season.

The winning teams will be announced in September and honored at the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings™ in National Harbor, Maryland, this December. A celebration for the hometown fans of each winning team will also take place at their respective ballparks at the start of the 2017 season.

“We have always had unbelievable support from our fans,” said Lookouts’ President Rich Mozingo. “The Esurance Home Field Advantage Award is a great way to recognize our fans for their contributions to our organization.”

For those who are interested in promotions, the Lookouts’ remaining 2016 promotional calendar is packed with fun-filled events to entertain every kind of fan.

On Friday, July 29 fans are invited out to the park for Superhero Night, a Tin Collectible Lunch Box giveaway and post-game Fireworks presented by the YMCA.

A day later, Saturday July 30, is the final giveaway in the team’s Great Clips bobblehead series.  The first 1,000 fans through the gates that day will receive a Byron Buxton bobblehead. Fans will also be treated to a performance by the World Famous ZOOperstars!

The next homestand kicks off on Friday, August 5th and features the 24th Annual Used Car Night with TVFCU on Saturday, August 6.
