Clayton, Mary Will Waits (Summerville)

Mary Will Waits Clayton, 90, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Clayton was born July 28, 1926, in Roanoke, AL, daughter of the late Milton and Mary Etta Henson Hammond.  She was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sylvester Pinion; second husband, Reverend Tommy Waits; third husband, Reverend Charles Clayton; brothers, Marchmon Hammond, David Hammond, Grover Hammond, Edward Hammond, Elijah Hammond, Murl Hammond, and George Hammond; sisters, Katie Pike, Vesta Pike, Lottie Richardson, Gladys Mozzella, and Clois Hicks.

Mrs. Clayton is survived by her son, Michael Pinion; brother, Earl Hammond; and sisters, Lois Anderson and Hazel Garrett.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clayton will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andy Hutchins officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tony Dowdy, Carl Anderson, William Browning, Raymond Duke, Otis Grogan, and Earl Hammond.

Mrs. Clayton will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
